Around Dumfries, we have 2 fantastic historic castles that is well worth seeing. One of which is called Caelaverock Castle where was the scene of 2 famous sieges, this moated castle has adventure park for the children, nature trail, seige exhibition and cafe. The other is Drumlanrig Castle which is the home of Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry KT. Renowned Art Collection, Victorian gardens, Adventure playground, Craft Centre, Cycle Museum and Woodland Walks. Both well worth going to.

Other castles that are now ruins unfortunately include Sweetheart abbey in New Abbey 10 miles from Dumfries and College Abbey or Lincluden Abbey which is in Lincluden a housing estate 2 miles from Dumfries, both again worth visiting.
